Our Story

The roots of our family business date back to the 1940's when our grandparents used to specialise in producing Welsh textile crafts. In 1970 Joan and Bert Rowley bought a gift shop and cafe in the heart of the most beautiful village in Eryri (Snowdonia); Beddgelert. The village is a gateway to Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), the highest mountain in Wales and England. Beddgelert is famously named after the legendary tale of Prince Llywelyn and his faithful hound Gelert.

Our grandparents soon turned their hand to crafting food and drink. They bought a soft-serve ice cream machine and that’s where it all started.…
